Website redesign checklist for NZ small businesses
Before you rebuild your website, check what is actually broken. A redesign should make the site clearer, faster, easier to use, and better at turning visitors into enquiries.
1. Check the message
Can a first-time visitor tell what you do, where you work, and who you help within a few seconds? If not, the homepage needs a clearer headline and supporting copy.
2. Check the mobile experience
Open your site on a phone. Is the text easy to read? Are buttons easy to tap? Can someone call, text, or enquire without pinching and zooming?
3. Check the conversion path
Every main page should have an obvious next step. That might be call, request a quote, book online, email, or start a free mockup.
4. Check the trust signals
Add real proof: reviews, before-and-after work, client examples, qualifications, guarantees, service areas, and clear pricing where possible.
5. Check Google basics
Each important service should be easy to find and explain. Page titles, descriptions, headings, image alt text, and internal links should match what customers actually search for.
6. Check speed and clutter
Heavy sliders, huge images, popups, and old plugins can slow your site down. A modern small business site should be lightweight and direct.
A redesign is not just a fresh coat of paint. Done properly, it should remove friction from the customer journey.
